A Portland-based developer is proposing a 300 unit hotel and condo resort on the south end of Prineville, with the intention of attracting high-end business travelers and vacationers to the area. "Rivergate Resort", which is not designated as a destination resort, but will have many of the same amenities, will border Meadow Lakes Golf Course and could provide a substantial economic boom to the quiet city of Prineville. "This could be a start of something big for Crook County", says Roger Lee, Executive Director of Economic Development of Central Oregon. Lee states that other similar developments are in the planning phase for the area. However, there are infrastructure concerns for the development and city planners believe a significant amount of resources will need to be spent for a development like Rivergate Resort to happen in Prineville.
